Aviel Cahn

Biography
At the helm of the Grand Théâtre de Genève since 2019, Aviel Cahn is committed to an art of opera and choreography that is open to the city and other art forms. Born in Zurich in 1974, with a solid musical training and a doctorate in law, Aviel Cahn left Switzerland at the age of 26 to manage the international relations of the Beijing Orchestra, then took charge of casting at the Finnish Opera, before directing the Bern Opera and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra.
At the age of 34, he was appointed director of the Flemish Opera. His work and productions have received numerous international awards. Aviel Cahn will become General Director of the Deutsche Oper Berlin from the 2026/27 season.

VOICE COMPETITION 2024
ONLINE RECITAL
(MAX. 40 CANDIDATES / 25-30 MINUTES)
Candidates selected to participate in the Voice Competition 2024 have until July 2nd to submit their video recordings of the online recital, which must include:
- 2 opera arias
- 1 oratorio aria / sacred music
- 2 Lieder / songs
The online recital will be broadast on our YouTube Channel and website from 2-8 September. Semi-finalists will be announced on September 10th.
NB: The works chosen must be from three different periods and in three different languages. At least one work must have been composed after 1950. The recital should not exceed 30 minutes including stage entrances/exits and possible pauses.
