Antoinette Dennefeld

Born in Strasbourg, France, Antoinette Dennefeld’s artistic education began at a very young age, and included piano, theatre and dance. After two years at the University Marc Bloch in Strasbourg, she enters the Haute Ecole de Musique in Lausanne in 2006. During her studies, she participated in masterclasses with Dale Dusing, Christa Ludwig and Luisa Catsellani. She received the Mosetti grant two times (2008-2010) and the Richard Wagner scholarship (2009).
She graduated from the Haute Ecole de Musique in Lausanne and received her Master of Music (Voice) in 2011 with high honors. For her excellent results, she received the Max Jost Award, Friends of the OSR Award and the Paderewski Prize. The same year, she won the Grand Prix at the International Singing Competition of Marmande and the Third Prize and Public's Choice at the International Singing Competition of Geneva. She also received in 2011 an advanced career development grant from the Leenaards Foundation.
She made her debut at Opéra de Lausanne where she sang, among other roles, Zweite Dame in Mozart’s Zauberflöte, the second witch in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Zulma in Rossini’s l’Italiana in Algeri, Stephano in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, or Fanny Elssler in l’Aiglon by Honegger and Iber. At Opéra de Marseille she was Charmion in Cléopâtre and Jean in Le Portrait de Manon, both operas by Massenet. She sang Dorabella in Mozart’s Così fan tutte in Tenerife, Oreste in Offenbach’s La Belle Hélène in Avignon, Annio in Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito in Montpellier, Louise in Varney’s Les Mousquetaires au Couvent in both Lausanne and Opéra Comique and Rosina in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Florence. At the Opéra National de Lyon, she was the Cat and the Squirrel in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges, and took part in two new productions staged by Laurent Pelly : Le Comte Orly by Rossini in which she was Isolier and Le Roi Carotte by Offenbach in which she sang the part of Princess Cunégonde.
Recently, she made her debut as Charlotte in Massenet’s Werther at Opera de Tenerife and sang for the first time at Opéra National de Paris as Lola in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana and as Mercedes in Bizet’s Carmen.
Among futur project will be La Clemenza di Tito (Annio) at Opéra National de Paris, Le Domino Noir by Auber (Brigitte) at Opéra Royal de Wallonie and Opéra Comique, Don Giovanni (Donna Elvira) at Opéra National de Lyon, Le Nozze di Figaro (Cherubino) at Opéra de Marseille and her debut as Carmen at Opéra de Dijon.
Since 2009, she has been performing in recitals with the pianist Lucas Buclin as Duo Almage. In 2012, they recorded pieces by Poulenc, Aboulker, Wolf, Britten and Strauss for the Société Vaudoise des amis de l'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.
