Biography

Matthias Arter, oboist and composer, studied in Zurich with Peter Fuchs and Thomas Indermühle and in Freiburg with Heinz Holliger.

He teaches oboe and chamber music at the Bern University of the Arts and the Lucerne Festival Academy. He performs as solo oboist with the Basel Chamber Orchestra and the Collegium Novum in Zurich.

Dividing his time between composition and playing, he also plays his own works, such as the concerto for lupophone (a new bass oboe which he actively promotes.
