Biography
French-Taiwanese violist Lou Yung-Hsin Chang is a founding member of the Quatuor Hermès. A graduate of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Lyon and the Universität der Künste Berlin, she won first prize ex-aequo at the Concours de Genève in 2011 and First Prize at the Young Concert Artist Competition in New York in 2012 as a member of the quartet and regularly appears on the most important international stage. Their recordings have been rewarded by French and international critics. Meetings with prestigious musicians such as Tasso Adamopoulos, Hartmut Rohde, Miguel da Silva, the Artemis Quartet and Alfred Brendel have been instrumental in the evolution of her career. She has performed with renowned artists such as Adrian Brendel, Philippe Cassard, the Ebène, Ardeo and Auryn quartets, Nicholas Angelich, Renaud Capuçon, Marie-Josèphe Jude, Anne Gastinel, Emmanuelle Bertrand, Adrien La Marca, Pierre Génisson...
Lou Chang plays a viola made for her by Riccardo Bergonzi (Cremona) in 2017 and a bow by Edwin Clément (Paris).
